Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

Date July 18, 2008

This made me laugh. For some people, blogging is a truly serious affair and that’s why they have really good following. Some, like me, just want to have some sort of presence and don’t really care about SEO and all that stuff. And then you’ve got those who just want to get paid, or get rich quick (as if) and so they blog. At the end of the day though, when you look at what blogs are making the real money, its the ones that put in all the hard work, not the ones supposedly sipping their beverage of choice by the poolside or by the beach (a very unappealing image to me actually).

You’re probably right but I think that the subject matter is really important as well. I mean, if some Singaporean idiot is writing about his experiences in London, he can only earn 3 cents from Project Wonderful every day… :p

I intended to write a comment why excessive SEO will not work but after seeing CK’s comment, I could not help but laugh. I have been to his sght and it is quite well indeed, just like yours.

Now, from a commercial point of view, making money from blogging is very difficult, if not impossible. But if you do not have self respect, you can set up a 10 page static site or a number of them, paste it smartly with adverts, and drop link baits everywhere. It will gradually pick up and make money. Then build another, and another, something like 20. It will generate some decent income in a few years.

But is it what you really want? Making money is nice, not much but sustain a living without a day job is nicer for sure. Apart from that, blogging is like a little Narcissism. It is about spreading your ideas, being read, and being liked.

Hahhahahah, I don’t think anyone makes more than 5c a day though with Project Wonderful.

Does that old trick still work? I guess it probably does and yeah, you’re right, its definitely not what I want and every blogger is most assuredly as narcissistic as you can get (please, please, read my diary!)
