The Thorny Tree of Knowledge

It was too difficult to see the label of the tree since it was several meters away and there were “keep off the grass” signs around it. Nevertheless, the thick thorns were very visible. I wonder what kind of tree this is- or is it an overgrown bush?

Next door was an interesting sculpture on sharing knowledge where it is poured out from one generation to the next.
